It all began as a collaboration between two creative minds- Julie Booma, an architect, and Koeun Min, who studied industrial design. With a love for creating and playing around with colors, textures and forms, they became fast friends and loved analyzing all beautiful things together. After graduating from college, the seed was planted and Poési was born. After several years of juggling the corporate world and making jewelry through the night, Julie realized that she needed to follow the calling of her heart, while, Koeun decided to pursue other passions and gave the blessing to continue without her. Thus, Atelier Poési was officially launched in the fall of 2009. Since then, it has grown to include Carol Lee, who is the senior designer of the graphic department and Koeun continues to contribute her exceptional talents as our design consultant. Inspired by travels, historical pieces and natural forms, the collection is continually evolving and reflecting the world as seen through their eyes.

Atelier Poési currently specializes in jewelry for everyday and special occasions. Sometimes, however, inspiration hits and results in the creation of other handmade lovelies such as hair pins and other adornments. Each piece is lovingly dreamed up and handcrafted to order in the hope that it will impart a certain happiness in making you feel beautiful whether starting your day at the office or walking down the aisle on your wedding day.

We think celebrating the beauty in the world is important, and there is nothing more lovely than the kind that radiates from the inside out. The ultimate vision for Poési is to be able to leave a footprint by contributing a portion of our profits to those help those who are unable to help themselves. Our heartstrings have always been tugged by children in need and currently 10% of our profits go to the Elijah Foundation (we hope to grow so that this number can also grow), which is dedicated to the provision of orphanages across Southeast Asia. Atelier Poési is proud to be an independent line that is focused on creating beautifully crafted and timeless work whose appeal does not pass with the trends of the seasons. From time to time, we may reference certain looks that inspire us, but we interpret them in our own way to give even an edgy piece an aura of delicacy and ease. Our work tends to be easy to wear both in terms of visually complementing many looks and also because they are usually light as air and comfortable. All of our pieces are made to order (by hand and with love!) here in Chicago. This and the fact that the natural materials that we may incoporate also have slight variances only add to the unique character and individuality of your piece.

Using high quality materials, our aim is to provide pieces that will make the wearer feel beautiful for many, many years to come, unlike mass consumer/ factory-manufactured brands which usually only last a season or two. Instead of less expensive base metals or gold or silver PLATED metals, we select solid sterling silver, gold-fill, vermeil and solid gold for our work, which can last indefinitely with proper care.  While plated metals tarnish permanently,  gold-fill and vermeil can be polished back to their original shine and luster because of the considerable thickness of the layer of actual gold on the surface.
